Polish grind or honing rolled metal
Surface measurements
of rolled metal, before or after having been honed or ground, can be
analyzed for the success of the polishing, grinding or honing process
in achieving optimal surface
texture. Post-grinding measurements of both the cut surface and
the cutting tools have been used for optimizing
cutting materials, cutting speed and lubrication needs.
Wear marks
Honing, polish scratches, wear, voids and inclusions can be measured
and their surface characteristics
determined to diagnose the nature of the wear event.
The software provided with the optical profilometer is able to remove
the surface shape and present the wear
or defect three-dimensionally, independent of the surface figure.
Failure analysis, cracks and fissures
The 3d optical profiler measurement
contains reliable linear
profilecross-sections in any direction across the surface, and can
be used to produce precisely calculates
volume of voids, wear, pits, grooves and failure cracks and fissures.
